100 days of rabbits (and hares)

Hello to anyone out there who may still have access to my blog!

It has been ages since I’ve done this.

Ages since I created anything on paper too.

I was approached at the beginning of the week by a dear creative friend who mentioned we should both do The 100 Day Project together this year. I knew immediately that committing to a small creative project daily was just what I needed to get ideas flowing for my pottery (in case you were wondering, it’s the clay that has kept me from paper crafting, designing and blogging for the last 5 years or so).

The possibilities for the project are as endless as your imagination. While I was tempted at first to dive directly into a clay based project for the next 100 days, that wasn’t much of a divergence from what I was already doing. What I really needed was a push to start exploring imagery, sketching, playing with inks, paint, paper. Developing my visual vocabulary if you will.

For as little as 10-20 minutes a day, for the next 100 days, I will be working on 4.25 x 5.5 inch papers (whatever I find lurking in my stash). Using whatever media I can find on hand, I am going to play.

Day 1/100

Mixed media on watercolour paper
Dylusions ink, Glimmer mist, Distress Ink, Tim Holts Stamp, Pitt Pen, white grease pencil, water.

If you are still following my blog, or are participating in the 100 day project, leave me a note!

Soft and Bright.

Daylight savings time change is such a small adjustment, but has such a huge impact on us every year. I haven't been very productive this week since we're all feeling a bit drained. Mostly spent my free evening times finishing up a few lovies. I'm really liking the new eyes, and the personality they give. This little guy has been begging to be finished for months now! He's finally done, and now seems to think he needs a fox friend...
I'm alternating between two types of yarn for my lovies. I love the fuzziness of the Snuggly Wuggly yarn by Loops and Theeads, and the amazing range of colours in the pastel palette. Then I'm drawn in the opposite direction to Red Heart Soft. I like the drape and sheen, and the bolder colours. Truth be told, I'd rather work all my projects with Pacific by Cascade yarns but I'm not sure I could charge enough to cover my costs.  Something to work towards maybe.
So here is an example of the baby yarn versus the bold.
Opposite ends of the spectrum for sure!!
I know many who are very traditional when it come to making or buying items for baby, and also know there is a trend toward bolder design and colour for nurseries and accessories these days. I'd love to hear opinions on it!

A New Adventure

Welcome to my new adventure in the blogging world. I've been blogging for over 9 years now In the scrapbook and papercraft world, and it's time to add another element. I don't think I'm leaving papercrafting completely behind, but setting it aside for a little while, while I work out my issues with yarn...

It all started with a bored 7 year old girl and her crafty grandmother. A few lessons later, and that little girl was literally hooked. ( I think this is also around the time she developed a love of fabric, sewing, embroidery, and anything fiber based- except for knitting. Knitting is another story.)

Her crochet design career began with crochet toe warmers and trivets, pot holders and Barbie clothes, and has evolved today into more practical hats, scarves and blankets. And toys. Especially toys.

Let's begin with those toys:
